Full Agenda for BOE Finance Committee Meeting

A meeting of the Finance Committee of the Board of Education will take place tonight at 7pm at City Hall, A300.  The agenda includes many important items such as outside legal services, stimulus funding and the 2010-11 budget. Newly-elected Board member Steve Colarossi is the new chair of this committee.  NorwalkNet will report on this meeting.   Look for a story tomorrow.

  1. Here's a suggestion for the finance committee: Provide a report on the consultants who have been hired over the past 3 or 4 years, including the amounts they have been paid. It will be an eye-opening experience for the new board members (maybe the senior members, too) to see how much money Norwalk has paid some of these people, most of whom retired from the district years ago. Some of them have worked fulltime for YEARS on the payroll, while they also collect their full state pensions.

  2. There is nothing new in this, sometimes it is actually necessary if a staff position is cut. Also, public information, anyone can ask for this.

  3. Sept 15 BOE Meeting minutes: To keep the NHS Poo open, was the income generated $800K? I thought it was more like $80K. If it was $800K, why is there still mold growing on the walls and actual "dirt" on the lockers? It couldn't cover the lockerrooms getting cleaned?

If a position is cut, why would the district hire someone to fill it? Cutting the position means that it doesn't exist anymore.
